Google’s Cherry Sundae Doodle

Today, Google’s logo is imprinted on the lid of a tub of cherry sundae ice cream to mark the 119th birthday of this delightful dessert. How funny, I thought,  just now, when I saw it! We’ve never really seen Google celebrating cake, sandwiches or anything related to food yet. Here’s a collection of Google logos since they started appearing.

These alterations to the Google logo are called doodles and make Google’s homepage just a bit as fun as it is functional. Possibly in the interests of enhancing the user experience! Certainly, if you had to go to any other company and ask to change their logo for a day, you would get long faces around the board room table! Not only just… in true spirit of Web 2.0 openness, Doodle 4 Google invites kids from schools all over the United States to put their design creations forward and get the opportunity of having them chosen to sit on the search engine’s homepage for a day. The competition closed on March 16th.

The judges at work on evaluating the submissions are as diverse as the Web itself. So if you made a submission, it surely is likely to hit at least somebody’s fancy. Meanwhile, enjoy the lovely summer days and grab a sundae…
